A cross-sectional and longitudinal pilot study of untrained and athletic individuals.

The exponential increase in the number of Covid-19 patients has resulted in an increasing burden on health care systems in many countries around the world and requires scientific knowledge not only of patients with lethal courses, but especially the follow-up of patients with severe courses to patients with only mild to asymptomatic courses.

The Post/Long Covid-19 study has the following objectives:

  • Improvement of the medical care in patients with Covid-19 disease
  • Objective analysis of exercise capacity after Covid-19 disease
  • Development of disease-specific preventive training programs
  • Establishment of evidence-based sports medical and sports scientific recommendations

Why are these investigations of importance?

Regardless of pre-existing conditions, Post/Long Covid-19 syndrome is currently expected to occur in about 15 percent of cases.

Affected individuals suffer from both psychosomatic conditions and a high level of psychosocial stress, which in turn can lead to Post/Long Covid-19 syndrome.

This complex, "new" clinical picture urgently requires an interdisciplinary approach with a holistic view on the individual, as well as the continuity of supply.
